The series is systematically divided into 8 sections, covering a wide range of topics including astronomy, geography, botany, zoology; the human body, common utensils and symbols. Each 6-minute episode introduces 4 to 6 Chinese characters.

With 720 episodes in all, it is a mammoth production involving 3750 scene sets, more than 7000 prop pieces and over 2200 acting talents. By the time you complete the series, you would have learnt 3500 Chinese words out of all 5000 Chinese characters. There simply is no better and more enjoyable way to master the language!

This series introdces a logical approach to the chinese language through artistic representations. A sagely chinese Old Man (Old Master) explains each character based on its pictographic shape and specific qualities where two little children take lessons from him.

The genesis of each Chinese character is exquisitely presented through dramatizations of ancient China, and brought to life with 2 and 3D animation techniques. Learning Chinese is no longer a chore, but an exciting activity that is vividly linked and relevant to the student\'s daily experiences. There is no need to painstakingly memorize writing strokes as is traditionally taught in schools.

What\'s more, the student picks up important cultural and general knowledge while learning to read and write Chinese. This truly is a multi-dimensional learning experience.

\"Han Zi Gong\" employs the methodology developed by chinese linguist, Bai Shuangfa. The Shuangfa Method evolved from traditional teaching methods. It is based on more than 200 basic pictograms. These basic pictograms serve as building blocks that are used to construct other, more complex pictograms in the Chinese language.

The program shows that each Chinese character is built logically, based on the shapes of the basic pictograms. It also associates the pronunciation of the word to the pictographic shapes. The Shuangfa Method is easy, systematic and definitely makes learning alot more enjoyable and fruitful.

The Chinese language has a long history and is full of vitality. It is the product of continuous improvement by ancient Chinese scholars and is the mark of the Chinese civilization.

The sheer volume and complexity of Chinese characters, make learning to read and write Chinese daunting to say the least where \"Han Zi Gong\" aims to simplify the learning process and ethicate the history of Chinese language.

  1. Tapping into Human Psychology

Traditional methods of learning Chinese require the student to painstakingly memorize the strokes for individual characters. The Shuangfa Method has a grasp on human psyche and allows different groups of people to learn the language in a way that is most uited to them. Infants play character games, young students go further and learn to draw the pictograms. More matured students learn aobut compls word formations.

Foreigners or non-native speaker on the other hand acquire these linguistic principles through other means.

  1. Learning Chinese and Acquiring General Knowledge in One Step!
Traditional teaching methods seperate the acquiring of language skills from that of general knowledge. The Shuangfa Method teaches language through the imparting of scientific and cultural knowledge itself.

  1. Simplified or Traditional Characters?

Old methods of teaching Chinese are usually tailored to a specific type of Chinese character. The Shuangfa Method, however, can be used for both simplified and traditional Chinese characters. There is thus no concern about learning the \"wrong\" type of Chinese - the linguistic principles are one and the same.

  1. Chinese History

The emergence of Chinese writing is a significant milestone in teh history of hte chinese civilization. Pictograms are found to have existed as early as the Yangshou era, six to seven thousand years ago. This gradually evolve into the tortoise shell and bone inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty.

In fact, writing signified such an important step forward in the development of the human race that it inspired many myths and stories about how ords and writing were formed in the first place.

The Chinese believe that it was a deity called Cangjie who gave them their writing, which led the people into the world of knowledge and enlightment.
